A Ilha do Mel está localizada no estado do Paraná, no município de Paranaguá. É uma área de preservação administrada pela IAP (Instituto Ambiental do Paraná).

A Ilha tem 25 quilômetros de belas praias, desertas ou com pouca urbanização. A população da Ilha se distribui entre algumas pequenas vilas: Encantadas, Nova Brasília, Farol, Praia Grande e Fortaleza.

Para preservar o meio-ambiente e evitar a degradação da Ilha, não é permitido veículos automotores e de tração animal, e o número de visitantes é limitado a 5.000 pessoas por dia.

A locomoção dentro da Ilha é feita por trilhas de terra, que dão a impressão que o lugar parou no tempo.

Só é permitida a visitação em espaços delimitados da Ilha. Uma grande parte de seu território se constitui de área de preservação, onde não é permitido o acesso. Os pontos turísticos de maior destaque na Ilha do Mel são a Gruta das Encantadas, o Farol das Conchas e a Fortaleza de N. S. dos Prazeres, todos abertos à visitação pública.
