No lado sul da ilha está a vila das Encantadas, com boa infraestrutura de recepção turística, restaurantes, lanchonetes e pousadas. Ali está um dos patrimônios naturais mais importantes da Ilha, a Gruta das Encantadas, próxima à Praia do Mar de Fora, voltada para o mar aberto, com boas ondas para surfe. Para se chegar até a gruta, há uma passarela que leva até a sua entrada. Nos finais de semana e na temporada de verão, a noite é animada por bares e forrós bastante animados.
